Oak Lodge School

'Living with Badgers' Week

Discovering the World of Badgers at Oak Lodge

This term, Oak Lodge was delighted to welcome visitors from the Born Free Foundation, who helped our students learn all about badgers, wildlife conservation, and the importance of protecting the natural world.

Throughout the week, students immersed themselves in a range of exciting and engaging learning activities centred around badgers. Across the school, classes explored where badgers live, what they eat, how they behave in the wild, and why conservation is so important. Students developed their knowledge through creative, sensory, and hands-on experiences.

A highlight was the wonderful Badger Trail, designed and created by our talented Art Teacher, Bridget. Students enthusiastically followed the trail around the school, discovering facts and celebrating these fascinating native animals in a fun and interactive way.

The week culminated in a special end-of-term celebration assembly, where students proudly showcased their learning and creativity. We ended our assembly with a performance inspired by badgers, alongside displays of artwork, models, crafts, and classroom projects that reflected the incredible effort and enthusiasm shown throughout the week.

Thank you to the Born Free Foundation and to all staff who helped make this memorable learning experience possible and most importantly, to our Journeys teacher, Sally Adams for organising this every year and making 'Living with' week very special.

Take a look at some of the amazing badger-inspired creations our students produced throughout the week!
