Trades Union Facilities Time
Barnet Special Education Trust fully supports Trade Union and Professional Body membership of our staff. We see effective and collaborative partnership working between the Trust and recognised bodies as essential to the successful operation of our schools and establishments. The Trust will always support employees’ participation in official trade union activities in accordance with current regulations.
Oak Lodge School purchases Trade Union Facilities Time as a traded service supplied by Barnet Education and Skills service. This service provides a cost-effective access route for statutory and collective consultation and bargaining through branch officials from the National Education Union, Unison and GMB unions. The arrangement provides access to a framework for academies to manage industrial relations and largely eliminates or at least reduces the need to establish, agree and coordinate release arrangements and paid time off for duties and training.
Trustees have made reference to Statutory Instrument 2017 No. 328, The Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017 to calculate the details outlined below for the Academy Year 2021-22.
