Oak Lodge School, Barnet: Relationships and Sex Education

Relationships and Sex Education

In September 2020, the National Curriculum expectations changed for all schools for the teaching of Relationships and Sex Education, that also includes Health Education. There is a special emphasis on health education and the mental health and well-being of young people, and our priority at Oak Lodge is to make sure that all students are healthy, happy and safe. Click here for a new presentation that will explain how Oak Lodge proposes to teach this aspect of the curriculum.

There is a workshop for parents to share perspectives on RSE outcomes for students with learning disabilities aged 5 - 25 years on Thursday 19th May, 12 Noon until 1.30pm. Click here for a letter from the Headteacher. Click here for UCL Research Programme Information.

Our new Relationships and Sex Education Policy can be downloaded here.

Any parent may at any time, exercise their statutory right to withdraw their child under the Education Act 1993, from all or part of the Sex and Relationships Education programme but not from the teaching of the biological aspects of human growth and reproduction that form part of National Curriculum Science. Any parent wishing to withdraw their child should contact the Headteacher.
